Why Would I Need a Pet Visit or a Dog Walker If I Work from Home?

We are living in strange times of a worldwide pandemic, and many of us are working from home. Actually, prior to the pandemic, more and more people were working from home. Our pets undoubtedly love having us around more; I, for one, definitely notice this with my pet. She has become used to having the kids home instead of at school and likes having more noise and activity in the house.

However, for many of us, our schedules are still busy and chaotic. We’re trying to balance so many things… our jobs and workload as well as being the meal maker, house cleaner, schoolteacher, parent, entertainer, etc. Our lives are still busy, and we don’t always make time to play with or exercise our pet.

If you’re one whose schedule is busy, and you’re not taking the time you’d like to focus on your furry family member, you may benefit from a pet sitter visit or a having a dog walker supplement your walks. Why would this be helpful?

More Interaction & Time Outdoors

We want our pets to be friendly with people who live outside our home. If they start to become too isolated with the same people and in the same space, you might notice different behaviors in your pet. Your cat may become more fearful of anyone who comes by, or your dog may start to show signs of becoming more territorial or aggressive. A change of scenery with a new person can be beneficial for the well-being of your pet.

More Exercise

If you’ve ever watched “My Cat From Hell” or “The Dog Whisperer” you know that stimulation and exercise are extremely important for happy, well-adjusted pets. Basically, any issue you’re seeing with your pet – from mood to behavior – can be improved with more exercise and positive social stimulation.

Lift A Piece of Your Daily Burden

Let’s face it, we’re all doing the best we can, and sometimes this has us functioning in survival mode depending on how the challenges of the world are affecting our health, our mood and mental status, our responsibilities and our workload. Many of us don’t mind paying for luxuries that will help make our day easier, from grocery delivery to meal kits to online holiday shopping. We can’t pour from an empty cup, so if there’s something or someone that will take one thing off of your to-do list, it’s okay to consider it now and then. You can take that energy to do other things (or do nothing!), and that’s okay. That’s better than okay.

Pick the Most Beneficial Time of Day for You

When you have a pet sitter or dog walker stop by, consider what time of day would work best. If you have an important meeting that you need to focus on and have a quiet house, that may be good time to schedule your dog walk. Or, maybe you're busy baking for the holidays or you just want some time to yourself to watch Netflix; that is fantastic. Anything that will improve your day improves the energy in your home, so this is a win.

If you’re new to the idea of a pet sitter or dog walker, feel free to explore the idea and learn more. We’d be happy to talk with you, and we offer complimentary consultations to meet you and your furry family members. (Plus, we’re pretty obsessed with animals, so you’ll make our day better too.)
